It was fantastic to see so many of our recent graduates from BSc Animal Biology and BSc Biology at the graduation ceremony on Thursday 7th November at Cheltenham racecourse – the sun even put in a guest appearance!
Overall, 24 former students graduated, with six achieving first-class honours. Holly Tipper achieved the highest overall mark in the final year within Biosciences and was presented with the top student award, sponsored jointed by the Society of Biology and the School of Natural and Social Sciences. It was really lovely to see Holly’s cohort standing up to applaud her as she came on stage to receive the award from Anne – congratulations again, Holly!
It was fascinating finding out what people have done in the short space of time since the summer. Several people are now studying MSc courses or currently applying for MSc / PhD opportunities, while others are going into education, with four already working in secondary schools teaching science, or assisting with provision, alongside PGCE study or in preparation for this. Other graduates are working with ecological organisations, including the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Wildlife Trust and the RSPB.
Please do keep in touch with the Biosciences team – we are always interested in what our graduates are doing!
